Identify. Understand. Respond.

Mental Health First Aid is for anyone who wants to make our community healthier, safer and more compassionate. It teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. And, it gives you the skills to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem, or experiencing a crisis.

Topics include:

  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Trauma
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use disorders

As Kitsap County’s behavioral health expert, we know that a community-wide support system is crucial to both recovery and to reducing the stigma around mental health and substance use disorders. That’s why we’re offering free monthly trainings in Adult Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid. The trainings are open to adults, ages 18 and older. Youth Mental Health First Aid training is designed to teach adults how to help adolescents ages 12-18.

Check our events calendar below for scheduled trainings. Or, complete the form to request a group training for 5 to 20 adults. Interested in taking this course in Spanish? We can connect you to a virtual instructor.
