Courtesy of Kitsap Sun – Pendleton Place is not built yet, but Kitsap County’s first permanent supportive housing complex is becoming more of a reality. In recent weeks, the project successfully signed off on another milestone: It’s now fully funded.
The 72-unit apartment complex — spearheaded by nonprofit Kitsap Mental Health Services — secured its last chunk of funding in late June, $10.8 million in low-income housing tax credits, reaching its total $21.8 million development budget.
With funding in place, Kitsap Mental Health Services is now turning its focus toward Pendleton Place’s construction, with plans to break ground this September. It hopes the building is completed and ready to accept its first residents in fall 2021.
“It’s full speed ahead right now,” said Monica Bernhard, who oversees the project for Kitsap Mental Health.
