Courtesy of Kitsap Sun – Marjorie (Marge) Thorne, a community volunteer who had a hand in the creation of Kitsap County’s mental health crisis clinic, its first hospice and the county’s League of Women voters, has died.
The lifelong volunteer died on April 29. She was 91, according to her daughter, Karen Danis of Bremerton.
Thorne had a lengthy resume filled with achievements. When Danis compiled them all, it covered five pages. She received at least 21 awards for her volunteerism.
“It was important to her to be excellent in anything she did, whether being president of PTA or caring for her family,” Danis said.
