Steve Strachan, Chief of Police, Bremerton Police Department, was elected to the Board in October, 2014 and is on the Compliance Committee. Appointed Chief by Mayor Lent in February of 2013, he has over 27 years of law enforcement experience. Since his appointment, Chief Strachan has taken an active role in community dialogue regarding the intersection of mental health with the law and justice system. In addition to his law enforcement career, he was an elected member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, where he served on the Judiciary, Government Operations, and State Government Finance Committees. From 2007-2010, Steve served as an appointee of Washington Governor Christine Gregoire to the Washington State Auto Theft Prevention Authority. Steve holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of Minnesota, and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Minnesota State University. He is a member of the International Association of Police Chiefs, a past Chair of the King County Police Chiefs Association, a past President of the Kent Rotary Club and an active member of the Bremerton Rotary Club.
